When it comes to makeup, lipstick has (& will always be!) my first love. And the fact that I’ve been wearing less makeup in 2017 compared to years prior, has just helped reinforced how important makeup basics are for me – I’ve fully stepped away from quantity & wanting to have multiples of everything to having fewer products that I really love & prefer to use often.

Guerlain is a luxury French beauty brand known both for their skincare & makeup. I still remember the first time I got to try Guerlain Beauty products at an event maybe four or five years ago; I tried the Lingerie de Peau foundation & the cult Rouge G lipsticks. The experience was, something else! Definitely one of those memorable beauty moments for me. I did go to a beauty counter a few weeks later to buy my own bottle of foundation but sadly didn’t get a good shade match. Then Guerlain seemed to disappear from India for a while, but now they’re back & bigger than ever.

A few months ago I attended their grand relaunch event where they introduced us to two new products, the Abeille Royale skincare line & KissKiss Matte range of lipsticks. I’ve been trying this lipstick since September & I’m finally ready to talk about it!

Guerlain KissKiss Matte Lipstick Review

About: Guerlain imagines KissKiss Matte, a hydrating and plumping matte lipstick, intense like a lipstick and comfortable like a balm! The subtle spice extract it contains gives the impression of voluminous lips while the precious oils and the hyaluronic acid smooth and hydrate them. KissKiss Matte offers 9 captivating shades for all special occasions. The iconic packaging is adorned with a golden matte veil.

Packaging: This is definitely the first thing that attracts me to a product & it gains even more importance. Do you think people would bother buying Chanel or Jimmy Choo nail polishes if they came in standard bottles? I’ve heard time & again that Guerlain (along with fellow French brand, YSL) does the nicest luxe packaging & I have to agree.

The lipstick tube is shaped like rectangular & shaped like gold bricks, I often find metallic gold makeup packaging can look a little over the top but the muted colour & matte finish of the packaging keeps it understated & classy. The bullet itself is a pretty standard shape but it does have KISS KISS engraved on the side of it.

Shade / Colour Payoff: The 9 shades available in India run from daily wear nudes to reds, plums & even some vampy evening shades. Zesty Orange is a deep orange shade that doesn’t scream ORANGE but it leans pretty red, I’d say it’s better classified as an orange-red shade (one of my all time favorite kind of colours to wear!) Orange reds suit Indians skin tones so well (because of our warm undertones) & would look great with a slightly orange toned blush or even bronzer. I’d classify it as more of a daytime colour but you can easily wear it at night with, say, heavier eye makeup.

You get a lot of coverage with just one swipe but (which you can even wear as a stain after muting with your fingers) but I’d say it takes about two swipes for full coverage.

Formula: Guerlain waxes eloquent about how this is supposed to be a hydrating matte lipstick (which is so rare, as mattes tend to be very drying). It does have a lot of nourishing ingredients & goes on semi creamy. It does even have a little bit of reflective sheen for a while (which helps your lips look plumper), it’s definitely not a flat matte. It was definitely more nourishing & comfortable to wear than a lot of mattes out there & also very light, I wasn’t aware of a layer of paint on my lips, unlike with a lot of other mattes. Like with all matte products though, it helps to have nourishes lips, if you haven’t been regular with lip balm this does have a tendency to start feeling slightly dry a few hours in & it’s also more prone to settle into lines on dry lips.

Wear Time: For how comfortable it is, it’s also really long lasting. You’ll get 6-8 hours of wear easily. It does disappear a bit if you eat a meal, thankfully without leaving a mess.

In Conclusion

I’ve really enjoyed everything about the Guerlain KissKiss Matte lipstick. It’s gorgeous to look at, comfortable to wear & I find myself reaching for it very often. While hydrating matte doesn’t mean it’ll take the place of a lip balm, it is the perfect lipstick for folks who like how most matte lipstick look but not how they feel – I think I’ve made a convert of my mom, who usually yells something on the lines of NO MATTES!! every time I ask her to wear any of my lipsticks. So all in all, no complains really.

Cost & Availability in India

The lipstick costs ₹2,775 in India (for 3.5gms of product) which is quite fair considering the international prices, it’s also in line with products by other luxury brands in India like Estee Lauder.

Availability is still slightly limited, you can purchase from Guerlain counters at Shopper’s Stop Outlets across India. Apparently they should be on everyone’s favorite beauty ecommerce website soon, I’ll update you folks once that happens.

Taking care of my hair has always been a bit of a battle. I have thick hair, but it’s also dry, coarse & very prone to frizz. Colouring & heat styling my hair hasn’t really helped matters.

I’m always looking for ways to improve the texture of my hair & care for it. Oiling one’s hair with a scalp massage (champi maalish!) is quite an integral part self care here in India. Oils infused with herbs or flowers are quite common. Recently, Hair & Care introduced first of it’s kind fruit oils in two variants.

The GREEN fruit oil has orange, anaar and strawberry extracts.

Oranges serve as a natural conditioner. Every part of the fruit has several benefits including the pulp, juice and even the peel.
Anaar (pomegranate) helps in getting rid of dull hair. It contains essential fatty acids and punicic acid that gives shine to your hair.
Strawberries moisturises, adds shine and smoothens the hair.

The ORANGE fruit oil has olive, mosambi and green apple extracts.

Olives helps in sealing the moisture and protecting the keratin in the hair due to its high content of Vitamin A, E and antioxidants.
Mosambi helps in the treatment of split ends and dandruff,
Green apple helps in promoting hair growth.

The oils are each available in four sizes (50, 100, 200 & 300 ml) & come in plastic bottles with secure, flip top caps.

Directions for Use: Before wash deeply massage into scalp for extra nutrition. After wash dab a few drops for manageable hair.

While the fruit oils aren’t what I would call a dry oil, they aren’t overtly heavy, greasy or oily either. They do have a fruity fragrance which smells so pleasant.

I’ve actively used these oils for around a month now. I tend to prefer using them a few hours before I wash my hair. I apply the oil super generously on my hair, then do a little scalp massage – other than being super relaxing it also promotes circulation, which will improve the health of your scalp & in turn the texture of your hair. If lucky enough to have a mom do this for you (like mine!) then you’re golden.

Sometimes I like putting on oil just before going to sleep & washing my hair the next morning. I feel this not only gives the product more time to act, but I always have the best sleep with oil on!

I’ve been aiming to use oil at least twice a week. Sometimes if I’m busy, just once. Oils don’t show instant results but you’ll usually reap the benefits of adding them to your regimen. I do think this has improved the mids & ends of my hair, which were previously bleached & hence pretty damaged.

I’m always really bad at self care, but I’m trying to get better. I’ve really enjoyed using these – they smell great, are non greasy & very pocket friendly. You can buy them online here – green fruit oil & orange fruit oil.

What is one way you take care of & pamper your hair? Do share in the comments! x

I’ve said this once & I’ll say it again – testing beauty products & tools has to be one of my favorite parts of being a blogger. Sometimes, I’ll compare very whimsical products (which is the best blue mascara out there?) While they aren’t necessities, they’re fun to use. But more often than not, I find myself feverishly testing products because they serve to fix a personal beauty problem I’m experiencing.

While my daily beauty routine can be quite minimal, I do have hair that’s naturally quite prone to frizz. Add Mumbai’s tropical climate into the mix (90% humidity today & it’s not even raining!)

I’ve spent many years (& more money than I’d care to admit) searching for the perfect hair dryer. I’ve bought cheap ones & expensive ones. They’ve usually been pleasing in some ways, but unusable in others.

So when I tried the Syska Trendsetter HD1605W Hair Dryer, I didn’t really know what to expect & that’s what made using it even more enjoyable.

Features

• Soft white design.

• Compact design, foldable handle.

• Two speed functions.

• Quiet design.

• Health Breeze & Heat Balance Technologies – to ensure your hair doesn’t get heat damaged & warm air is distributed evenly.

• Crafted in Korea.

• Two Years Warranty

My Experience

Whenever I try anything new, my first impressions are based on the design & I really like how this looks – the mostly white design with silver & transparent accents makes it look quite chic.

I travel a lot, so I immediately loved how compact this dryer was – most hotel rooms have dryers, but they’re pretty weak & take forever to actually dry my thick hair. Once, I was so exasperated that I ended up buying a very pricey salon grade dryer – sounds good right? Except, nobody told me how heavy it would be or that it would tire out my hands within two minutes of holding it. Lesson learnt; leave the salon hair dryers to the actually hairstyling professionals. I was still on the lookout, for some practical yet easy to use.

The Syska Trendsetter dryer is a respectable 1000W, so it has a good amount of power & airflow without ever getting too hot or too noisy. The power cord is long which is always handy as my plug point isn’t near the mirror & I can easily use this without resorting to an extension box.

The dryer works efficiently & dries my short but thick hair within just about five minutes. I’ve used to for regularly for around three weeks the heat is just right to leave my hair sleek & shiny without causing damage (although I always use a heat protectant before using hot tools).

You get just the dryer in the box, there are no extra nozzles or attachments. The transparent end works reasonably well as a concentrator, but there is no separate diffuser. I’ve never actually used a diffuser though, as it works better on volumising finer hair, I think this dryer is just perfect for everyday (or every wash) use when I’m at home or elsewhere.

In Conclusion

I’ve really liked using this dryer, it helps keep my hair looking good without damage, is quick & easy to use, compact to travel with (because who has extra luggage space anyway?)

The Syska Trendsetter HD1605 Hair Dryer is priced really affordably at just ₹ 1,150 although you can get it even cheaper online. If you’re in the market for a new dryer, I would definitely recommend checking this one out!

Blogging is a fun & rewarding jobs but my favorite perk of the job, by far has to be the opportunity to test new products, especially ones in the beauty & personal care sphere.

It’s no secret to regular readers that I’ve been shaving for a long time. It was my first method of hair removal & after trying out various other methods over the years, I’ve come back to it for good. I’ve even created a lot of shaving related content here, right from a beginner’s guide to shaving your legs to discussing my experience with other forms of hair removal & busting a shaving related myth or two.

Tools of the Trade

Shaving is by far one of the easiest & quickest forms of hair removal but you can’t discount how important the razor is in having a smooth shaving experience. All razors aren’t created equal. I’ve been guilty of using a cheap disposable razor in a pinch (yep, I sometimes forget to pack my beauty essentials) & I found the experience to be uncomfortable & scratchy.

I’d been more than satisfied using the Gillette Venus razor but when I heard there was a new Gillette Venus Breeze razor being released, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! I’ve been using it for over a month now, about every other day & I think I’m ready to share my two cents on the new razor.

At a Glance – The Gillette Venus Breeze

The new Gillette Venus Breeze is quite a looker. All purple body with some translucent, rubberised bits that make it easier to grip, especially when you’re wet & slippery in a shower. But it’s not just looks – what truly sets the razor apart (the 2 in 1 bit) are the built in shave gel bars above & below the blades. These bars are supposed to completely eliminate the need for a shaving gel. Just wet up the razor & you’re totally good to go. The first cartridge is included with your razor (but packaged separately to keep the bars fresh & moisture free). Later on, the cartridges can be purchased in packs of two.

Depending on your frequency of usage, a cartridge can last anywhere between 1-3 months. I found that if improperly stored they do get extra soggy & that can decrease longevity.

When wet up the soap bars do give out a sort of slippery & moist gel (they call it light lather) that makes the razor glide super smooth. Even if you’re shaving at the last minute before stepping out, you can just place the razor under a tap for a few seconds & use it.

The lather may not be visible that much but it works quite well. Of course, using it during a bath / shower is always the best experience though.
I was fairly impressed with the soap bar’s ability to lubricate my skin without getting spent. After a month of use, I can see that bars are more spent but I still have a few more uses before I change cartridges.

In case you’ve experiences dry or scratchy skin after shaving, I think the Gillette Venus Breeze does a very good job of eliminating that problem. As always though, regular exfoliation (at least twice weekly) & moisturization (once or twice a day) should be included in your routine.

I’ve had a very pleasant experience using the Gillette Venus Breeze, it’s made the already simple process of shaving my legs even easier, quicker & more comfortable (can I say breezier? or would that be too much?).

The Gillette Venus Breeze is now available in India, in stores & online. The Gillette Venus Breeze razor retails for ₹299 & a pack of two cartridges costs ₹350. x

From the average age of 11 to sometime in their late 40s or 50s, most women menstruate. In fact, most women menstruate at least 3,500 days (that’s around 9 1/2 years, to put it in to perspective). And yet most people shy away from talking about periods, even more so in conservative cultures like India.

I’ve been using Whisper pads for over 13 years now & I’ve really liked them – both for making top notch products & for great campaigns that aim to banish superstitions & taboos around menstruation.

Introducing the all new Whisper Ultra Soft

This Women’s Day I spent the evening with Whisper at the launch of the newest product, the all new Whisper Ultra Soft which is now 2x softer.

It was a dreamy event held outdoors & with lots of pretty pink and white decor. Radhika Apte has always been a trailblazer & she was the perfect person to represent the brand. Gynaecologist Nandita Palshetkar also spoke about good hygiene practises while on your period. It was a fun & empowering day, to say the least!

My Experience with the new #UltraSoft

I’ve had the new Whisper Ultra Soft for a while but I wanted to hold off on writing this post until I tried it for myself. The packaging is quite all pink with a little bit of green, very cute if you ask me

The pads, like most Whisper ones are individually wrapped & compact, it’s easy to stick one of these in your bag.

Whisper Ultra Clean vs Ultra Soft

I have quite a heavy flow, especially in the earlier days & tend to use pads with a mesh top & gel inner as those are very good at absorption. Most recently I’ve been using the Whisper Ultra Clean, which I reviewed last year.

However, I do have very sensitive skin & I had been experiencing minor rashes & irritation after each period, even frequent changes didn’t really improve things. The first thing I noticed when I switched to Ultra Soft is (& this one is a no-brainer) that it really is very soft. Even wearing it for long hours caused zero rashes & it just felt very comfortable. Whisper did say that the Ultra Soft was especially good for sensitive skin & they weren’t kidding around. I’m absolutely a convert.

Other than the softness / comfort / sensitivity factor, there’s a lot more interesting tech in the new Ultra Soft – it has odourless pearls that lock away any unwanted odours, it locks in liquid to prevent spillage & leaks. These haven’t been major areas of concern for me, & the new Ultra Soft seems to hold up well.

The new Ultra Soft is available in two sizes – I tried large but there’s also extra large, I find longer length give me much more peace of mind during days with heavier flow or overnight.

One last thing I wanted to add – as much as I love the girl power message of period ads, I’ve always found some parts of them annoying. There are always these active, brave women wearing white pants & jumping over walls & it just feels a bit extra, you know? But I still really like the underlying message-

Whisper knows periods can be a little uncomfortable, annoying & painful for some of us. It is a time where we as women need to put our needs first. If I’m comfortable during my period, I’m already in a better mood.

And then, it’s all about choice. Are you a sporty, active woman who wants to do everything? Your period shouldn’t hold you back from going out there. Are you like me, a bit of a grouchy couch potato during that time of the month? You can take the time of to rest & watch Netflix. At the end of the day, it is about being comfortable & being in a place where you can actually make a choice, now that’s a message I can completely get behind!

I am someone who really likes to keep my makeup simple & fuss free. I don’t use foundation or eyeshadow, ever. But I still really enjoy adding bits of colour into my looks, especially blue! I bought my first blue mascara last year – Inglot Color Play Mascara, you can even see it in action in this Get Ready With Me video, where I paired it with a saree & blue lipstick. While I definitely purchased it mainly for the colour, it promised a lot of great things – thickening, great volume effect & other that the blue, it delivered on none of those things. Sure it wasn’t a bad mascara, but I definitely expected more for ₹800!

When I recently heard that Lakmé was launching their own Blue Mascara, I was ecstatic. It sounded promising, is easily available & most of all, pretty affordable. But is it any good? I’ve been using it for a week now, & here’s what I think of it-

Mascaras either promise length, volume, curling or a combination of all three. This one, as the name suggests, focusses on the latter. The packaging of this mascara is exactly the same as the regular Lakmé Eyeconic Curling Mascara (black) which has been around for a few years. In fact, if you have the original one it might be difficult to distinguish at first sight, although there is a colour coded sticker at the bottom. I never tried the original one though, as I tend to go for thickening / volumising mascaras most of the time.

My natural lashes with no added product. Please ignore the less than perfect liner application.

The brush is the typical shape that I see on all curling mascaras. My lashes are fairly straight & do benefit from curling, but I am too lazy to use an eyelash curler most of the time. This did give me some ‘lift’, it didn’t really compare to what a curler would do, but obviously better than nothing. You do have to take some time to see that the lashes are properly coated, but the final effect is quite stunning & very visible.

Makeup | Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liner, Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips in Frick N Frack, Nykaa Nails Matte in Blue Jellybean

Outfit | FILA Black tshirt dress, Wanderer Anchor wrap bracelet

I quite like the effect of this mascara. Like my Inglot one, it doesn’t do much to enhance thickness, but it does lift. The Blue is vibrant & bold, & it shows up pretty well even on naturally dark eyelashes.

On some days when I want very voluminous lashes, I’ll use a very thickening mascara first (I’m currently crushing on the Maybelline Barbie Big Eyes mascara) & layer this on top. However, when layering on a jet black mascara, the blue doesn’t stand out as much.

I’m really happy with this mascara, & if you’re looking for an affordably priced blue mascara in India, I would defintiely recommend it! I secretly hope they release more shades too, like purple! You can buy it online here. x

Mumbai does a lot of things well – winter isn’t one of them. But while it doesn’t get too cold, the evenings do get a pleasant chill. For me, the first sign that it’s winter is when the skin on my face (which is usually very oily) starts to balance out, & become dryer even. It’s a definite sign that I need to switch to more nourishing skincare so my face doesn’t get dehydrated.

Since the beginning of December I began using five products from The Body Shop’s newly revamped Vitamin E range. The video above explains my skincare routine in detail, but I thought I’d also share mini reviews here on the blog.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Range was first introduced in 1977. Enriched with Wheatgerm Oil, one of nature’s richest sourced of Vitamin E, it’s said to help protect against pollution, cigarette smoke & UVA / UVB rays. The Vitamin E Range has both skincare & bodycare products. Most of the range is suitable for all ages & skin types, although they have a couple of products that are more geared towards oily or dry skin too. This year they updated the packaging a bit on most of the older products & introduced a few innovative new ones too. You can learn more about the range & products on their website.

Since the beginning of December, I’ve been using five products from the range, which comprise of both my morning & night skincare routine. I have also continued using my La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+ that I showcased in my anti acne skincare routine video as it does an excellent job at keeping my acne / breakouts / clogged pores in check.

As all the products I’ve been using are suitable for all skin types, I also recruited mom to try the products with me – her skin is completely different from mine, even if you remove the age difference. She has normal / dry skin (more dry in winter), & has never suffered from acne. I thought it would be interesting to see what she thinks of the products as well.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash

The Vitamin E Gentle Face Wash is definitely one of the more unique face washes I’ve tried. The texture is less what I expect from traditional face washes & more like a lotion. It did remind me slightly of The Body Shop Drops of Light face wash that I tested + reviewed earlier this year, but the Vitamin E one is definitely a lot more rich & emollient.

I was a little skeptical about whether something so creamy could cleanse effectively. But after sometimes using it directly on a full face of makeup (yeah on lazy days I sometimes jump into the shower without using makeup remover first) I’m happy to say that it did a very good job of removing my base makeup. However, gel face washes are best recommended for oily / sensitive / acne prone skin like mine & while this didn’t cause any breakouts, I’m not sure it did my skin favours either. My idea face wash shouldn’t strip my skin but should still leave my pores feeling clean, so using this wasn’t fully satisfying for me.

I asked my mom what she thought of it & her verdict was that she absolutely loved it. As mentioned, she has normal to dry skin that never breaks out & just generally looks immaculate even in the absence of a proper skincare routine. I’ve been badgering her to use face wash & moisturizer on the regular (which she does very reluctantly). Even when I’ve bought her face washes meant for ‘normal’ skin she always complained about them being too drying. She absolutely loved the Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash & was pretty quick to proclaim that it’s the best she’s ever used.

So while this one is stated to be for all skin types, I think it’ll be loved by people with normal to dry or even very dry skin who don’t face issues like clogged pores. Not a bad product, but not right for me either.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

Toner isn’t the most glamorous or often talked about product. Growing up all skincare basics in magazines started & ended with CTM (Cleanse-Tone-Moisturize) but I still always wondered, what does it really do? But just this year, I’ve realized how important it is. Not only does it gently close open pores, toner also removes any excess makeup, dirt of cleanser left behind. Now I never skip it.

Often toners can be really drying so I was eager to try out this hydrating toner & I must say, it definitely didn’t disappoint. It’s alcohol free, truly great for all skin types. And it’s gentle but very effective. I loved it, definitely one of the standout products from the range for me.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Protect Emulsion SPF 30

The Moisture Protect Emulsion is one of the new additions to the Vitamin E range. Think of it like a super powered day cream – it hydrates, protects & offers broad spectrum UV protection too. I really liked the tall tube like packaging & the pump dispenser, which ensures hygiene & minimises wastage. The formula is pretty runny, almost milk like in texture. It offers a lot of hydration & doesn’t leave a white cast either. I think it’s especially great for busy / lazy people who don’t like to have a very elaborate skincare routine before starting their day.

I really liked this. Since my skin is less oily in the winter, this is just right for me now. When it gets warmer, this just might make my skin a little greasy looking. So it’s great for normal to dry skin, but probably won’t sit too well on oily skin (unless you’re ok with lots of powdering). When my skin is oily I tend to prefer creams that have some kind of inbuilt mattifying properties along with always keeping a powder compact handy.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream

I have a confession to make: I didn’t have an eye cream in my routine for a long time (before this). While I’m sad that I didn’t inherit my mom’s clear skin, I’m sort of glad that I didn’t get the heredity dark circles (count your blessings & all that). But keeping your under eye area hydrated is an important first step to delaying the onset of fine lines & crows feet in that area.

The fine nozzle of this is great because just like the pump packaging of the emulsion, it ensures hygiene & minimizes waste. I’ve enjoyed using this eye cream because it’s really hydrating. I tap it on with my ring finger twice a day – a smaller amount in the morning & slightly more in the evening (the cream promises 48 hour hydration, so if you prefer to use it just once a day at night time, that’s fine too). It’s a good, nourishing, no nonsense eye cream – no complains at all! Another product that’ll work well on all skin types.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisturizing Night Cream

The final product I’m going to talk about is the night cream, which I (obviously) use at night time in place of the emulsion. It’s rich (which is definitely something I look for in a good night cream), pleasant smelling & ensures I wake up with soft, nourished & bouncy skin. I think this will easily work well for all skin types, you can vary the amount that you use. Definitely another super product.

All in all I really like the Vitamin E range. It doesn’t make any gimmicky claims, it promises healthy, well hydrated skin & delivers well on that. If hydration is your main concern, this range will be perfect for you. If you’re suffering from any specific skin issues like acne or hyper pigmentation, this range may not really do anything for those concerns. Still it’s a fabulous range for almost all skin types in winter & normal-dry skin types throughout the year!

You can shop the entire The Body Shop Vitamin E Range online here (currently 15% off)

Ask any high school or college age kid (of both genders) what their biggest skin woe is & there’s a good chance their answer would be pimples. While TV ads can be a tad overdramatic, pimples have the ability to pop up at the absolute worst times (but let’s get real, it’s never a good time to get one) & completely ruin your mood. When in school & college, I had an incredibly active lifestyle. Commuting, after school classes, extra curricular activities not to mention all the other things like having a social life. I couldn’t slow down & wouldn’t want to either. Pimples tend to be like a bad boyfriend, someone that disrupts your life, causes nothing but trouble. We’ve all been there, yes?

A few months ago I first discovered the Clean & Clear Pimple Clearing Face Wash. Cutely packaged & affordable, this promised to help me #BreakUpWithPimples. So I had a college aged friend put it to the test & here are her two cents & conclusion.

Clean & Clear Pimple Clearing Face Wash

₹99 for 80ml & ₹55 for 40ml

Packaging is often the first thing I discuss in any product because it’s the first impression I get even before I try it. This bright green tube grabs attention on any shelf. I loved the subtle ombré effect – opaque at the top but translucent at the bottom, so you have a clearer view of the contents. The flip top tube is both efficient & hygienic. You can dispense just the right amount of product. It’s also quite travel friendly, & you can easily carry it in your bag if you want, which makes it perfect to use after the gym, training or anything such.

Let’s talk ingredients. Neem is famous for it’s antibacterial properties but if like me you’re not too excited with the idea of grinding actually neem leaves & putting them on your face, this product comes in handy to get the goodness of neem without the mess. It also has aloe vera, which is soothing & hydrating, so you’re left with calm skin that never feels angry, dry or stretched out. The lemon extract in it is rich in Vitamin C, it naturally brightens & will help any scars fade much faster. It’s water based so it’s perfect for oily skin too! It does contain alcohol in a very small quantity, but it’s not in a high concentration so it shouldn’t irritate sensitive skin.

The face wash is a light green semi transparent gel with a mild, pleasing fragrance. You just need a coin size amount, once it gets in contact with water it foams quite well. This also means the product will last quite a long time, even more bang for your buck!

The recommended usage is twice a day & it does a good job of clearing out any makeup, excess sebum or grime / pollution, without stripping your skin (also moisturize after though!)

We found that the face wash does a good job of drying out any emerging or present pimples quicker, while the anti bacterial properties minimize the chances of recurrence. It also balances out oily skin well, & for that reason it’d work particularly well on teens suffering from very oily skin & frequent breakouts. It’s pleasing to use, gentle but effective & does what it promises. I’d throughly recommend it for tween or teen boys & girls suffering from oily skin or pimples, it’s time to #BreakUpWithPimples once & for all! x

Late last year I reviewed The Body Shop’s Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil in a video. The Body Shop recently expanded on well received range by introducing the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream. I’ve been testing it for one and a half month & it’s high time that I write about it here on the blog!

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream (₹2495 for 80ml, buy online here)

What they say: By infusing 3 precious seed oils from around the world, known for their revitalising and repairing properties on skin – Black Cumin seed oil from Egypt, Camellia seed oil from China and Rosehip seed oil from Chile – in to a silky cream with perfecting micro-pearls, we created a daily cream that intensely revitalises skin, replenishes moisture and revives radiance. Signs of ageing appear visibly reduced. From the moment it touches the skin, this Intensely Revitalising Cream effortlessly melts onto the face, leaving a light and comfortable finish without a greasy feel.

The packaging of this range corresponds with the existing oil- a heavy yellow / amber glass jar with a plastic stopper & black lid, very luxe. Sleeping Cream seems to just be a another (cuter?) way of saying night cream.

This cream has no artificial fragrance, but the blend of essential oils used makes it have a pretty strong smell on it’s own. I don’t hate it but don’t love it either, I did get used to it rather quickly. It does smell exactly like the facial oil.

Not going to lie, I was a bit vary of using this at first because night creams tend to be a little bit heavier & my skin is already very oily. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the texture, it seems to sort of be somewhere between a cream & gel. It’s very nourishing if you’re skin is dehydrated, yet it never feels heavy & gets fully absorbed pretty quickly, leaving no oiliness behind – so much so that I found myself reaching for a little bit in the morning too, just to give my skin an extra dose of hydration. I think this cream would easily suit all skin types, people with dryer skin can just use a little bit more. And although it isn’t the cheapest, it’s super potent, which means it’ll last quite a while, even with daily use.

If you’re looking for a nourishing night cream that still doesn’t feel overtly heavy or greasy, this would be a great addition to your night time skincare routine. Me & mom are both using the same cream (different skin types & ages, it still works perfectly) & we’ll see the end of the jar pretty soon.

The Body Shop is also running the Find Reggie Love Bio Bridge Campaign. Reggie is a Red Shanked Douc found in the Khe Nuoc Trong forest, which is the setting for their Bio-Bridge in Vietnam, and one purchase restores one square metre of rainforest. I think it’s a wonderful initiative!
