I bought these hunter rain boots back in 2012 & since then, an outfit post styling them every monsoon has become something of an annual tradition (see posts from 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017; still sad about skipping 2014!)

It’s been a fun exercise to see my style evolve through just these monsoon posts – I started out styling these with just jeans, because I pretty much lived in jeans then (& also felt like my legs were too skinny for boots to be honest). As my body changed, I found it easier to experiment with dresses & shorts more often. I do wish that I was more confident in the start. I do also wish, by extension that we didn’t live in a world that demonise both skinny or plus sized people. I try to do my bit but sometimes the effort just feels a bit hopeless? People tend to cling to their biases tightly, so I guess all we can do is work on ourselves.

Now back to those boots – I’m still so pleased with them, although I feel a little sad now because they don’t get as much wear from me as they used to. Hunter boots may be expensive, but they’re made to be worn & they were far more practical during college, or when I took public transport more. Nowadays, I don’t really venture out just for fun in the monsoons, I can also afford the luxury of cabs, which makes these more ornamental. Nevertheless I’ve thrown so much money at ridiculously impractical thing over the years, like fancy branded bags that don’t really outlast the year I buy them (I’m looking at you, Fossil) so this was a good buy. Mumbai’s weather’s getting to it slowly, but I think it has another couple of years in it.

Oh and by the way, how many cats do you count in this look? I’m pretty sure that my extensive cat themed wardrobe has become one of my signatures. I even did a fashion haul video that was so full of cats. I love the tshirt from this look – even though it’s an absurd premise. As anyone who has cats could tell you, cats & large plants do not get along, much less a cactus! Take it from me, I have three. I had to give up on that plant lady dream a while ago.

It’s mid-August now, officially that time of the year when I’m utterly sick & tired of rains, I can’t even muster up any fake enthusiasm. Wherever in the world you are today, I just hope you’re warm & safe. x

It somehow seems like being in my twenties has reignited my love for the world’s most famous cartoon mouse (my cats would not be pleased). I did a Mickey Mouse inspired look earlier this year & now this.

I couldn’t contain my excitement when I first heard of the ONLY x Mickey Capsule Collection. Mickey Mouse prints & motifs for grownups, where do I sign up? I’ve been fawning over all the pieces ever since but this shirt dress was shirt dress was my favorite & it’s such an easy piece!

On 28th July 2015 (exactly one year ago) I dressed up & got out of my house. It was in many ways a regular day in my life – it was super rainy, & I had planned a few work & personal appointments. Attending a press preview, meeting a friend for lunch (& discussing travel!) But my last appointment was kind of special because I was going to be brining home my first ever set of foster kittens that evening!

I’d always been a cat person, so getting fosters was no big deal right? It seemed like a good way to be a part of the stray animal rescue + rehabilitation process without making the long term commitment of adopting a cat. Well, I didn’t know it then but my life has just changed in so many ways since that day. Of course we decided to adopt one of our fosters, Thelma (who turned out to be a boy, joke’s on us) after his darling brother sadly passed away.

Thelma is one of the biggest cats you’ll meet (seriously, he weights over 8 kgs right now, in stark contrast to the 400 gms he weighed when he came home). He’s sassy, obstinate, slightly glutinous & very loving. As Thelma was a rescue cat, it’s not possible to celebrate his birthday (we don’t know when he was born) so adoptive pet parents tend to celebrate a gotcha day instead, marking the anniversary from when you bring home your pet.

Nowadays I’m sometime’s awoken by a cat biting my feet (hard!) Scratches are commonplace & hardly noteworthy. My life has changed in so many ways, & I wouldn’t have it any other way! Happy First Gotcha Day Thelma, & here’s to many more.

This particular set of photos was taken about a month & a half ago, with the intention of being published exactly today. And in the meantime, we kinda sorta went & adopted another kitten, which you can hear more about in the video!

I can’t write this post without giving a special shout out to World For All Animal Adoptions for the amazing work they do with rescuing stray dogs & cats in Mumbai (I’ve always fostered through them, they put out regular appeals on their facebook page) & to Jewel from Meow’s Home for running a homely & loving cat boarding house, so we can take occassional family vacations (human-only, lol) & still know that our feline family members are in the best hands.

And finally, this might be one of my favorite photos to come out of this set, Thelma look’s like he’s screaming for HALP (internally of course)! x

Being a full time blogger & vlogger, part of my job description is to always be connected. I check & update my social media multiple times a day, whether it’s facebook, twitter or instagram. For the last few weeks I’ve been using the Asus Zenpad 7.

The size of the Zenpad is perfect for someone who’s on the move a lot, it’s bigger than my phone & to make usage more comfortable – whether I’m emailing, checking social media & yet it is small enough to fit in almost any bag. It’s internal storage can be upgraded up to 128BG (great to store pictures & share them with friends!) & the body looks incredibly stylish!

While the Zenpad doesn’t replace my phone, it makes taking flights or even getting stuck in Mumbai traffic infinitely more bearable, pleasurable even! The battery life of the Zenpad is great, but add the audio cover & it becomes even better! I especially love using this when I haven’t turned on my computer, but am just lounging around. I can catch up on YouTube viewing & binge on Netflix, & at the same time switch to social media or email with a few quick taps of my finger. It has an Intel Atom Quad Core 64bit micro processor, that supports even the most heavy games (even 3d enabled ones!) with skipping a beat. The Audio Cover also makes it easy to watch videos & experience great sound on a tablet without using headphones or separate Bluetooth speakers & also adds to the luxury feel of the Zenpad with minimal bulk. To me the Zenpad brings out my love for fashion & tech!

With Valentine’s Day very close, I’m sure a lot of you guys must be searching for last minute gifts for your significant others. The fact is, a lot of guys experience Same Gift Syndrome at this time of the year – you know, that thing when you want to gift your girlfriend something nice but end up getting her the clichéd gifts like flowers, chocolates, a card, cake & a stuffed animal? This is the second monsoon outfit I’ve shared this year, after the Breton Dress. A plaid / lumberjack shirt is a wardrobe basic (I *still* miss this one!) & I love this one from Pepe because it’s just so light! Perfect for layering even on super hot days. And the printed denims fit so well & yet are really comfortable, I’ve love wearing it during flights, which is something I don’t say often about skinny jeans!

And my Hunter Boots are the perfect pair of shoes for Mumbai Monsoon, on rainy days when you want to keep your feet dry & wade through inches deep water while still looking chic. I’ve had them for over three years (2012, 2013) & they still look super glossy!
